Tourist Alert in Mexico

Crime in Bucerias Update

Much as we would prefer not to have to say this, there is crime in
Bucerias. I have recently heard of burglaries and an attempted purse
snatching from a moped. I have personally received two extortion
letters demanding a large sum of money. Now, with the carnival in
town, you must be even more careful. Do not carry a lot of money and
credit cards with you. Do not leave cash and jewelry laying around
your house or apartment. Lock your doors and gates, not just at night
or when you are leaving. Do it all the time. If anything bad should
happen, go to the police and to your consular agency.

 Crime in Isla Mujers

Similar to Bucerias…it appears petty crime is escalating on the Caribbean coastal island of Isla Mujeres as well.
